    Claims Guide

What to do the moment something goes wrong — step-by-step instructions for filing a claim quickly and correctly.

What to Do When an Accident Happens

The true value of your insurance is tested the moment you have to file a claim. Handling the first 30 minutes correctly can save you thousands of dollars and weeks of headaches.

    1. Safety & Emergency Services

First, ensure everyone is safe. If there are injuries or significant property damage, call 911 immediately. Do not move vehicles unless they are causing a hazard.

    2. Document Everything (The "Scene" Phase)

Your smartphone is your best tool. Take more photos than you think you need:

    • Damage to all vehicles/property involved
    • License plates of all vehicles
    • The surrounding area (street signs, intersections, weather conditions)
    • Insurance cards and driver's licenses of other parties

Crucial: Do not admit fault at the scene. Stick to the facts when talking to the police or other parties.

    3. Exchange Information

Collect names, phone numbers, and insurance details from everyone involved. If there are witnesses, get their contact info as well—their statements can be vital later.

    4. Call Us Immediately

Call Antwonne at 336-777-6545 as soon as you are safe. We will help you navigate the initial reporting and ensure the carrier gets the right information. If it's after hours, you can still call the carrier's claims line directly (found on your insurance card).

    5. The Adjuster Process

An adjuster from the insurance company will contact you to evaluate the damage. Be honest and thorough. Keep copies of all receipts for towing, repairs, or rental equipment—you'll need these for reimbursement.

    We're in your corner

Filing a claim can be stressful. At New Legacy Insurance, we stay involved throughout the process to make sure the carrier handles your claim fairly and quickly. If you run into issues with an adjuster, call us.
